MITSUBISHI ENGELBERG TOURER IS A NEW MEDIUM SUV HYBRID

The 2019 Geneva Motor Show unveiled the new concept car for Mitsubishi and it is most certainly unique. Named after a Swiss Ski resort, the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer bears an aggressive, daring and boxy SUV design that indeed dares you to “Drive Your Ambition”.

The concept car a Plug in Hybrid Electric SUV will posses a 2.4 litre petrol engine that works together with the electric motors to provide a total driving range of more than 700km with a full tank and battery. The Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer differs from the Outlander PHEV due to its energy-dense 20kWh lithium-ion battery that can drive the beast 70km on pure-electric power alone with a full battery. This is 26km more than the current medium hybrid SUV! This powerful Hybrid SUV was born to conquer all terrains and conditions. Moreover, there is better weight distribution with the battery pack placed between the front and rear axles, creating a lower centre of gravity, giving the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer an advanced torque for better overcoming sharper corners.

Some have dubbed this hybrid SUV ‘ugly’. However, it definitely holds a magnetism for those who seek adventure. It has been created to give off a commanding demeanour with its dominating grille, boxy yet aerodynamic roof pod with LED lighting at the front, slender LED taillights for a sleeker look, and sharp, superior stylised tyres that scream the word ‘BOSS’!

The inside of the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer has a large touchscreen in the middle of the extensive dashboard. The gauges are digitalised, and in the centre console of this hybrid medium SUV a dial is placed controlling off road capabilities. Furthermore, the concept car will have a seven seat layout unlike the current PHEV, which seats only five.

Unfortunately, Mitsubishi Motors has not released the latest car news to confirme when the Engelberg Tourer will be available for purchase, but the estimated time is between 2021 and 2022. What To Ride for one, can’t wait to see this bad boy tearing up the roads.
